I hate asking for help, I usually just get more confused and disapointed

One is never too old to learn something or ask for help!
Asking for help is not a sign of weakness but a good skill to enlist if you want what is needed to be done correctly. Taking the easy way out just adds problems in the end, so do things right the first time WITH HELP!!!!! Do not act proud or be ashamed of your needing a little clarification...ask....then how are you to be the expert the in next round....we grow in our knowledge and experiences by learning, observing, and asking.....

Absolutely! If you don't ask, how will you know? I am past that muddling through stage in life just to prove I am a grown up!
