Departed is a term used to refer to those who have died. If you see the movie than you will have a better understanding of that term because their is a lot of dearly departed people in it

I dont Know but its a great movie with a great ending.... title maybe because the family in the movie was departed.. Jack Nickelson is great

Its short for 'the dearly departed" , a.k.a the dead, especially those who have recently died. Its a very common term in the Irish Catholic community, well here in the Boston area anyway

Well.... Everybody in the whole movie ends up dying or "departing." Maybe thats got something to do with it.

i guess its because every one dies! well they "depart" that could be what its from? i dunno! but only mark wahlberg lives man hes the best!!!

it means people dying. only matt damon lives. Everyone else dies.
