My wife said our marriage wasn't going very well so I started doing the dishes every day. After 3 weeks she says things are going much better. Can someone explain why this is?

Well maybe she felt like she was doing all the house work and was not being appreciated by you. Now that you are stepping up and helping she feels that you actually appreciate her and it's not that you are doing the dishes, it's that you are doing something.

Ha , ha , see after marriage the couple should have time to have some fun with each other and in our day to day work if both of us go to office and come back and then let the wife do all the household chores she would have no time nor energy to enjoy the life so she commented that your marriage was not going very well but once you started sharing some of her burden she now finds some time to spend with you and hence she commented that things are going much better now. The magic of enjoying married life is sharing all the burdens , problems , doubts, debts , etc , etc among yourself in such a way that both of you are in equilibrum then thats all you have reached the peak time of your marriage life. All the best.

Dude....i am in the same sinking boat. Was told i have to do better, have to work on things better...take better care of putting the marraige first. What was it that i HAD to do to fix things? Take out the trash, do the dishes and clean up the kitchen before going to bed. And this is after working a full day...and i dont mind it...BUT how does any of that work into me not being a good husband?

It's not the dishes. lol It's because you are taking time to consider her and value her. By doing the dishes you are helping her and allowing her to feel understood by you. Sometimes when we women do all the housework we start to feel used. Because you stepped up and started doing the dishes she feels more connected to you and loving. Men see it as "just doing dishes"... women see it as "he really cares and we are becoming more connected". I wish you two all the luck in the world! You seem to be a genuinely wonderful husband. Keep it up! :) If you really want a happy marriage... try mopping the floor on occasion or doing a load of laundry. :) Good luck!

It makes her feel like you really do care. You care enough about her to try to help her out around the house, and she feels less stressed out because she doesn't look at the sink and think, "damn, I have to get those dishes done." It takes a mental stress off of her, which leaves her more mental happiness/enjoy life time. Which also probably has the effect of leaving her free to actually enjoy/ appreciate the time she gets with you!

So, doing the dishes doesn't equal love, what it does is free her mentally to feel her love for you.

I think it just showed that you were thinking about her. Sometimes it takes small things to make women happy.

Before did she say how you were never helping out around the house? And that she has to do everything? If she was then theres your answer.

She just wanted you to show that you were carrying about her, and doing the dishes most likely gave her free time to do other things.

I think my relationship would be better if my man did the dishes every night :)

I personally feel closer and more in love to/with my husband when he helps me with the house. Men generally dont do that, so when a man does, it means a LOT to a woman! Just show her that you care, be active in the house whenever you can- this shouldnt be an everyday thing but surprise her once in a while, say honey- let me do the dishes today, you sit back and watch TV...beleive me she will be DYING for you..Smile

She feels more appreciated and feels like you see her as more of an equal by doing what is traditionally a woman's job. It's not really the dishes, it's that she feels you are putting in the effort to help repair the marriage by helping out.

First I have to comment! NICE PIC!!!!!!!!!!! LOL
Well I think its great that your doing the dishes. If it pleases her. Then hot dam keep it up.
But love is showing a person you love them by cleaning up after yourself. So they aren't bogged down of all the work of taking care of you! Now I like that! Smile!

Helping your wife around the house shows you care about her, which makes her feel better. Of course, she should do things to help you too.
