If you think those "oracle priests" are any different than those who stand behind pulpits today, think again.

The person that stands behind my pulpit depicts the triumph of Christ over death, not some religious superstition and soothsaying orgy.

What Christ did would be like you having cancer and were going to die tomorrow, and I gladly hooked up a machine between us that would transfer that cancer over to me.
What would happen to me? What would happen to you? I would die in your place and you would live.

The great thing is that Christ, being GOD, died and rose again conquering death.

Seems to me the Oracles were part of the Counsel which is suppose to represent reason and rationality in government.

What 300 did was to show the depth of the human spirit's triumph over tyranny in one's life.

No.

In reality, Leo stayed behind because to save Sparta her king must die. He believed it in his heart and every fiber of his being. That is why before the final phase of the battle, the Spartans bathed themselves, perfumed themselves, and washed their hair and bodies with oil.....they were preparing themselves for death.

The oracles were right...Sparta lost her king, but survived. If Leo had retreated with the rest of the force, it is quite likely that the Greco Alliance would have crumbled, and a greater greco national identity would never have manifested.

In modern history, look to the rallying cry of the Alamo. Without the cry "remember the Alamo" the Texan army would never have formed as it had, never would have received the monies it needed, and would have lost at San Jacinto.

It just a movie. And its just for entertainment. I myself will not watch this movie because I've heard that like most hollywood depictions the thousand men who backed up the 300 Trojans and died just as couragously, were left out of the movie.

If my sources gave me bad info let me know because I would like to see it if they didn't leave out that important part.

I thought "300" simply depicts ************ machismo. In the words of Tim "The Toolman" Taylor: "Arrr Arrr Arrr Arr!"

It's an against the odds movie. It's main purpose is to show that there is strength in numbers, but more strength in spirit.
