What do I do?

I don't want to throw money away. Will a bank change it for me?

No jokes about having two fivers, please!

Thanks everyone.

By the way, I'm liking the use of a trademarked brand-name instead of the generic terminology.

Now where's that roll of adhesive-backed, clear, plastic tape?.......

stick it back together with sellotape or take it to the bank where they should change it for another one. I've had loads of taped up notes so it shouldn't be a problem for you to spend it. when it eventually turns up at a bank they will send it on to be destroyed

Funnily enough I had a fiver rip in half last week! I just selotaped it back together and spent it in a shop, they didn't bat an eyelid. It's not your fault it's ripped and obvioulsy not a fake coz it's been well used! Not sure if the bank swap them but just use it selotaped.

i dont think the bank will change it for you im not sure you could try it though but when my dad did that once he made ure it was together right and then put a bit of selatape on it . not raped it and rapped it in it just a bit on each side.
and then go to your nearest shop and buy something iif they say out just say you got it like that or that you av accidently torn it a bit. they should accept it but then atlast you have the change from it and you wont have to worry about losing it. when my dad did that they didnt bother him so its worth a try. but thats thee best i can think of sorry if i didnt help xx GOOD LUCK xx

as long as you have both half's of the note then its no problem.
you could sellotape them together and any shop is more than likely to accept it as any other note...
if not take both halves to your bank and they will change it for you.
for a note to be acceptable at the bank for swop you must have at least 2/3 of the note...it must have at least 1 whole serial number on it and contain all the words 'I promise to pay the bearer on demand' and Should have at Least 2/3 of the chief treasurers signature .

if the sticky backed plastic thing is not for you....

Take it into the Bank of England; you only need to have the serial number of the note [printed in two places - you need both parts] and they will give you a spanking new one in exchange.

Then go and spend it in the pub over the road...

Just stick it back together with sellotape - I've seen plenty of notes like this and they've always been accepted.
