Where do you live? If you live in the US you will have a hard time finding a new diesel engined car. Most of them don't meet emissions standards in the US.
They do get better MPG ratings than gasoline cars due to the more dense nature of the fuel, and they tend to be more durable because there are less moving parts and systems to fail. Remember they have no spark plugs or ignition system.

Diesel engines are a lot cleaner than they were in the 1980s. You can run a diesel engine on used vegetable oil!!!

Diesel is better!

Diesel. They are much cleaner these days (thanks to low-sulphur gasoline), give LOADS of torque, and last almost forever. They are simpler (no spark plugs, mechanical injection), and stronger. They also use MUCH less gas, and no longer have than nasty loud rattling sound when running. Not ideal for racing/sports applications, but great on the road, especially if you plan on carrying a load from time to time.

Can't be too bad... Mercedes, Audi, Volvo - even VW! - have been using them for years...

diesel engines ;last alot loonger than petrol. they are cleaner than they used to be and emit less polutants than petrol.

deisel angines were designed to run on oil, yes..oil!! so with mine, i put veg oil in, about 1 to 3 ratio. it helps the engine run smoother, is fantastic for the environment and saves me fuel duty!! (but dont get caught!)

you get more miles per gallon with a diesel and they are cheaper to insure!! they are also alot quiter than they used to be

get a turbo deisel and you wont notice any difference in speed
