unconditional giving. you don't expect other person to love you in exchange for your love at least not in the same manner as you yourself.

The reason is very simple: you have control over your emotions and other person (over his/ hers) may love somebody else in the same manner but not necessarily you.

If you blame other person for not loving you enough; then its you, whose love quotient (LQ) is a suspect not the other person's.
