Hi there, I write to you with the hope of some friendly advice. I stopped the pill over three months ago and have not had a period since. I have taken 3 preg. tests since and all negative. I last tested 1 week ago. I have a feeling that I am not ovulating. I know many women experience this but it gets frustrating when you are on day 70 of your cycle and nothing either way. My bf and I are ttc. We are not in a hurry to conceive but I don't want to be waiting forever either. If I have a period, at least it's something. It will give me hope that I am functioning and I can get preggers. Has anyone else experienced this? Please help.

I don't mean to be blunt but I also have an increase in discharge on a daily basis since coming off BC, therefore, it's hard to tell when I am ovulating due to this. Both myself and bf are taking vitamins. Feel silly for assuming it would have happened by now. I was on dianette for three months, and trinovum for around a year. I have been on several different pills over a ten year period with a break of 6 months in 2003. I suffered break through bleeding on every one of them, apart from dianette...which turned me into a moody, emotional wreck! Thanks to those who have advised so far....

Well you could try testing for ovulation which can happen even if you aren't menstruating.

Other than that I would talk to an herbalist, there are great herbal ways to help get your cycle back on track. Most docs just use birth control to reset cycles and obviously that isn't going to work for you. I can't recommend any specific herbs, I just don't know enough.

It's very common for periods and ovulation to take a while to return after coming off the pill.
80% of women ovulate again within 3 months, 95% within 6 months. For the other 5% it can take up to a year.
That's why it is a good idea to wait for a normal period before trying to conceive - otherwise you don't know whether it's pregnancy or not that's causing the delay.
Unfortunately there is not much you can do apart from wait for your body to start ovulating again. It will happen, and probably within the next few months.
In the meantime, take this opportunity to have a few months of good healthy living - take your vitamins and get some for your partner too. Cut back on the baddies - booze, caffeine etc. That way, when your body is ready, your egg and your bfs sperm will be in the best possible condition and most likely to produce a healthy little one.
Good luck.

Hi, this is what to do:

buy ovulation urine tests on ebay - dead cheap, also pregnancy tests.

This is the only way I knew when I was ovulating and managed to conceive.

Your body should take a while to ovulate after coming off the pill, the amount of time will very from one woman to the next, so just relax, and enjoy the trying!!!

It just takes some womens bodies a little while longer to get back to normal after being on contraceptives. I've been told by my doctor that after coming off contraception that I don't need to get my periods back to become pregnant. Just to be ovulating. Maybe you could buy some ovulating sticks and do a few tests now and then just to see if you are ovulating. This should set your mind at ease.
