It evolved from probably two sources. The first being that one should kiss my @ss, then it got a little more aggressive and went to bite my @ss and that soon just went to bite me. Then there is the 2nd possible source, which is along the same lines as @ss but this one deals with the male anatomy. I have been around since the late 50's and I sort of have witnessed this transformation. Whenever I hear someone say bite me I quickly think of those explanation. If a female says it, it is usually the first explanation and if a male says it, then its normally the 2nd. There is another transition and that is when someone say that this "sucks".

It means "I dont like you so go away..." yeah...thats the way i use it. but hopefully no one has asked you this in the literal sense of the phrase...^^
