Just wondering if there is anything similar to the Beryl-Project or XGL (for Linux) on the Windows operating system?? I found a few different apps that allow you to use multiple desktops, but I want more. Something flashy... I will be focusing more on learning from different Linux distributions but for now, it's WinBlows.

NO, there's nothing even close to what you see with Beryl or Compiz.
You can try one of the programs like powertoys listed above and yes it will provide a desktop manager and a few add-ons to your desktop, but for having both functionality & fully customizable eye candy galore - Nothing as of yet compares to either Beryl or Compiz (Correction - a Mac can come close).
So if you must (for some reason?) hold on to Windows. Just setup your system to dual-boot with one of the popular distro's of Linux (Ubuntu, Redhat, Mandrake, etc.) & install Beryl or Compiz and sit back and enjoy the eye candy, the games, the software & the security, and it's all completely free!

Funny this question comes up, I have been recently (yesterday in fact) messing with different virtual desktop programs. The best free one I think is VirtuaWin: http://virtuawin.sourceforge.net/

Another free one with more bells and whistles is Virtual Desktop Toolbox: http://www.r2d2-software.com/VDT/Tutorial/Default/index.htm

Here is a scrollable one but I wasn't able to get the mouse to work: http://www.nearestexit.com/sdesk/

There is also the Microsoft one but I like the above ones better.

Go to the link I listed above and get the "Virtual Desktop Manager". That's should cure what ails ya.

Enjoy!
