Some had adopted Judaism and heretical forms of Christianity. Others worshipped a supreme Allah but considered there were other gods like his daughter al-Uzzah.

Primarily it originates in the same swirling mix of religious oriented cultures as Judaism and Christianity. Of those three Islam is the latest. This origin is confirmed by the following reference:
The Origin of Islam: The "Previous Scriptures"
The origin of Islam is controversial. The "previous scriptures" mentioned above are the Hebrew Torah, the Psalms of David, and the Gospels of Jesus Christ (Sura 4:163; 5:44-48). The Qur'an accepts these books as divinely inspired and even encourages us to test its claims by these "previous scriptures." "If you have any doubt regarding what is revealed to you from your Lord, then ask those who read the previous scripture" (Sura 10:94).
From devout Muslim point of view these previous scriptures are a form of Isla.

During this time Arab people consisted of tribes and nomades.
Some of them were pagans.
There were some Jews in the Khaybar region in now Saudi Arabia.
One tribe (Banou Taghleb) was Christian.

I believe there were a mixture of Jews and Christians(coptic Christians and probably monophysitistic, that is Christ had two natures a Divine and a human one but the human side of Jesus was so overshadowed that it barely existed like a drop in the ocean)

The Arab (Islamic) world is one of the oldest religions on earth a lot longer than Christianity. It makes Christinity look like a baby in comparison. Maybe look at the times before Christianity if they had a religon other than their Islamic beliefs it would have to be paganism. Such as the Ancient Greeks, Romans and Egytians these countries were all pagan.
