If you like Dan Brown, I suggest reading Arturo Perez-Reverte. "The Flanders Panel" and "The Club Dumas" have the same sort of mystery puzzle style as "The Da Vinci Code." If you like that aspect of it, you might also like Katherine Neville's works such as "The Eight" or Umberto Eco's works such as "The Name of the Rose." Reviewers have taken to saying that Neville, Eco, and Brown make a trio of good reading. If you like one of those authors, you will probably like the other two. Some other books you might like are "The Dante Club" and "The Poe Shadow" by Matthew Pearl and "The Rule of Four" by Ian Caldwell and Dustin Thomason. All of these books basically follow the same theme of a race to solve a puzzle by following scattered clues and they are all very well written.

If u already completed Harry Potter, then read Sydney Sheldon's books. These are also smart, thrilling and suspenseful like Dan Browns. You can read Mario Puzo's "Godfather" and others. But Dan Brown has got something really special style which is incomparable. Though you'll get almost similar taste from Sheldon and Puzo. Then read John Grisham and Stephen King for more thrillers.

Dan Brown is really a bad author and a polemicist.
Try reading: THE RULE OF FOUR by Ian Caldwell if you enjoy intellectual mysteries.

Dan Brown is a hack.
Read something worth your time...
Lawrence Block-the Matthew Scudder books
John Dunning-the Cliff Janeway books
Ian Rankin-the John Rebus books
Anita Shreve-Light On Snow
Sue Monk Kidd-The Mermaid's Chair
Randy Wayne White-the Doc Ford books
Agatha Christie-Passenger to Frankfurt*******
Dan Brown is supposed to have come out with a new book: Dan Brown's Gospel or some such nonsense as that. I do not want to be in his shoes when he meets his maker and it's too late to change his heart.
Sorry I'll get off the soapbox now!!!!!

I recommend some of Chris Ryan's things. His books are action packed, tense and generally very exciting.
The Increment
Greed
Black Out
Ultimate Weapon
Those are some of the ones I have read and they are very very good.
Hope this helps.

Are you after books which have the same "inclination" as that of Dan Brown's? If so, you may try these:
--Holy Blood, Holy Grail
--Daughter of God
--Templar Knights/Knights Templar

You could try the Babylon Rising series by Tim Lahaye. I tried reading them, but i got sort of bored halfway through. Maybe they'll work for you though.
