hi-I just read some interesting info on a website yesterday-I'll quote it here and post the link...
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Teething Symptoms
In addition to drooling, other teething symptoms can include1:
a decreased appetite for solid foods
biting
ear rubbing
gum rubbing
irritability
a rash on your child's face
sucking
waking up at night
And these symptoms occur about 4 days before and up to 3 days after your baby's tooth comes in, although the more bothersome symptoms, including decreased appetite, not sleeping, rash, and ear rubbing are most common on the day the tooth actually erupted or a day or 2 beforehand.

That means that teething is not going to last for weeks or months, as some parents believe, unless your child has one tooth after another coming in.
Keep in mind that many experts do believe that teething doesn't cause any symptoms for most children and that 'teething is the scapegoat for many other events occurring between about 6 and 24 months of age.

Well my daughter starting the teething process at about 3 1/2 months, and finally got her first teeth (2) the day before she turned 5 months. She pretty much was whiny and irritable for the time in between! It was a long month and a half. Now she is 6 months, and I believe she is working on some more, and she whinyness is back! To be encouraging, it isn't as bad after the first tooth/teeth are in.

Oh, I miss those "baby" years! It is very normal for this to go on during the teething process which can take a while. since your baby is just 7 months, I would say you have a while to go. It hurts and their little gums will be quite tender for some time. I used a little ora gel (sp) when my kids were teething (decades ago! lol) and also they sold teething rings that you put in the freezer first, I think it helped to numb the gums some and also helps the teeth to break through. If it gets very bad you might check with your pediatrician about something else, possibly a baby aspirin, well, I can't give you medical advice, except to check with your doc, or they have "call a nurse" and they are quite qualified to give you accurate info and advice about what they are using these days.
No, and gladly so, it is not a never-ending process, but it can take some time. I think the front ones are the most bothersome...you will eventually get some peace back, but of course, then there is the wonderful twos, the incessant curiosity of growing up, then adolescence and the teen years! lol!!!!! Have fun!

My daughter got all four bottom teeth almost at all at once. She was uncomfortable throughout two months/ a month and a half before (she was over four months when she started to really teeth). She wasn't sleeping anymore, she was whiny. I was starting to wonder if it was even teeth related. I was also wondering if she was ever going to sleep again. After the teeth broke through, she started sleeping through the night again, in fact she sleeps better now then she ever has before. She is now close to eight months old and occasionally her teeth bother her, but not nearly as much as they did when her first teeth were coming in. It does get better. When they get older they find ways of soothing themselves. I think its those first teeth that cause the most pain, until they start getting molars of course. Something else to look forward to!

There are several theories on teething. One is that when they are teething and putting everything in their mouths to gnaw on it makes them ill at the same time- thus the diarreah, fussiness and fever. My sons Dr said teething doesnt cause any symptoms. I highly disagree- I worked in an Infant room at a Child Development Center for over 4 years- and most babies get diarreah and slight fever. I think all that saliva that they produce goes right through them. Most have a difficult time when trying to get out those teeth. On top of that- these babies are so ready to get up and move- and at 7 months- thier bodies cant move them around as fast as they want to go. Poor things. Hang in there- it will get better.

Never-ending!
My youngest is 19 months and still has two teeth on the bottom coming in. It hurts them. The best things I found were combos or one or another: ibuprofin, teething tablets, chamomile tea, orajel, rubbing their gums, those mesh feeders filled with ice, popcicles (i found some tiny ones), ice chips, and once when NOTHING else worked, I froze a carrot and a washcloth and let her chew on those.
My middle son is almost three, he still whines and he's not teething.
My teenage girl isn't so much a whiner, as she is a b*tcher, always complaining! haha, so I guess it's a never-ending process, but the hugs and love are worth it!

Well i have a 7 mo old also. My baby has been teething on and off for about 3 mo. They say they can teeth for like 3-4 mo and it can vary in intensity throghout that period of time. But once they break their first teeth it tends to get better for them as they get used to it. It will get better as they get older. Father of 3.

ya i know what you mean, the whining can drive you crazy, i found what really helped my son to feel better while he was teething were these little teething tablets instead of like orajel or something like that, they are all natural, you just put them in the babys mouth and they just dissolve, i have no idea why they worked so well but about 15 minutes after giving them to my son he would be feeling almost 100% better, you can get them at walgreens or cvs, good luck!
