White used 2 be the colour worn by all teams many years ago. Now all teams have coloured uniforms. Teams still have white uniforms in Test matches though......

When the Kerry Packer-inspired World Series Cricket began in the mid-to-late 70s, they experimented with white uniforms. But because they were using a white ball as most of the WSC matches were day/night matches, and the red ball is hard to see under floodlights, it was considered difficult for batsmen, and even some outfielders to pick up the white ball against white uniforms. So since around 1979/80 Aussie teams wore a prodominetly gold uniform with green, and with the wide-spread introduction of day/night limited overs cricket, other countries began using coloured kits for limited overs matches, regardless of when the matches were played, to make it easier for the white ball to be seen.
