Yesterday, I hurt my shoulder at work. To-day I am home. I went to emergency .and they told me I hurt the shoulder ,it is not broken.
I have a job in a clothing store on Sundays only in the basement of a store. There are two sets of stairs to go up/ down on.My boss is upstairs on the main floor.
My supervisor is off on Sun / Mon. She leaves me notes for work to be done. Last week I mixed =up the invoice copies and gave the customer the yellow bill of sale instead of the white. My boss called me yesterday / talked and talked. I was with a customer /busy and I told her but she kept on talking. The customer bought a jacket , I gave her the white copy which was correct.. She left the store. The note from my supervisor said to give the customer the yellow copy. so I went upstairs to find the customer She left. I told my boss about it. She said the instructions were wrong. On the way down to the basement I missed 2 bottom steps and fell over on my shoulder and leg.I want to go to a lawyer.

cover your butt do everything you have to do like notify your employer in writing and check your handbook at work as well as the posted laws good luck and hope you feel better

You should have immediately reported the injury to the manager on duty at the time. Most companies require immediate notification of any on-the-job injuries. Failure to report the injury immediately may well have jeopardized your rights to file this as a worker's comp case.

If you haven't reported the injury yet, do so immediately. However your delay may prevent you for collecting anything on this as a job-related injury.

If you look near the time clock there should be a notice posted about reporting on-the-job injuries. Many companies also post copies of this in work areas out of the public view and in break rooms and locker rooms. Unless your employer has failed to properly post this mandatory notification it's very likely that your worker's compensation claim will be administratively denied.

A lawyer will advise you of the same thing. The first question he or she will ask you is, "Did you report this to your employer." If you did, they'll ask to see a copy of the denial of your claim. If you haven't notified your employer, they'll send you back to do what you should have done in the first place.

Did you report this to your employer when it happened? If not you need to do that immediately. They will probably have you go to their doctor, do that immediately also. If they start to give you a hard time, then, yes, you will need to contact a lawyer but make sure you have everything documented on what happened, how you fell, when the employer was notified, etc.

Your employer needs to notify the insurance company within 24 hours of the accident, so there is no time to waste.

So what is your question? Are you asking if you might have a case to present and win in a court of law? Instead of going to a lawyer just file for workmen's compensation. Every company/business has workmen's compensation and if you feel that would help pay for treatment and time to heal then use that method. A lawyer won't be able to help you in this case because there is no proof of negligence on the part of your employer.
