i am no longer welcome at either of those places. walmart banned me and since molly had to have that gunfight with bananas in the fruit section at the grocery store, the manager hates me there, too.

LOL. I personally make a living off servicing them so I try not to slag them but I also know SCOs (self check-out lanes) replace real people's jobs. They take out three check outs, install 4 SCOs and employ one person to watch them. At least 2 jobs are eliminated in the process. I try not to use them unless I'm in an incredible hurry.

In the UK, we've only just got them (I saw them in the US once and thought it was a great idea).

Since they started here, I use them a lot... (most days actually when I go and get my lunch).

They do seem to go wrong a lot, but it's fun when they work...

Best bit though is watching all the idiots in front of me! I think it's HILARIOUS when people can't get the item to scan so they start waving it around in front of the scanner... and the more frustrated they get, the faster and harder they wave it (as if giving the scanner a moving target is going to help)!!

Always makes me cheerful!

Yes, but it's like zinntwin says, half the time something goes wrong and you end up needing help anyway. I always have the stupid thing tell me to place the last item in the bag after I've already placed the last item in the bag. Or it tells me to wait for cashier assistance when there's no reason to.

Yes, I do.
I didn't like them at first because they take jobs away from people but I don't like waiting at lines at the market. There are always crying children or leering men. I would rather just pay & get out.

No! Most of the time something goes wrong and you have to have a cashier help you anyway. Forget it.
