Since it is physically impossible to put a desktop hard drive into a laptop computer, the solution is a USB enclosure. It is basically an external USB hard drive - only without the hard drive inside of it. Instead, you can open up the case and insert your own hard drive. Then attach it to the laptop by a USB cable and access the data.
Once done, you can continue to use the hard drive as an external USB drive. You bascially get an external hard drive for a fraction of the normal cost (around $30).
I have a couple of those cases (one for desktop drives and one for laptop drives) that I use on a daily basis, as I do computer support and data recovery for a living.

Get an external USB enclosure for the hard drives.
Then all you do is plug it in to the laptop for access.

simpliest way.... get another desktop. then change the jumpers on the back of the harddrive to slave mode. (look at manuel for details) then the computer wont try too boot from that harddrive. instead it will see it as a storage. boot from the original harddrive that is in desktop. double click slave drive and there. you can access all your info and even transfer to the master .harddrive
