Lanesboro, in the hills of southeast Minnesota, south of Rochester, is a quaint old town full of antique shops, bed and breakfast places, all types of restaurants, and an excellent regional theatre. It's a big tourist spot in summer, but spring is before the high season, so it's less crowded and cheaper.

go to Bluefin Resort on the North Shore, right on Lake Siperior and each room has a two person hot tub and a fireplace.lots of trails and senic drives, close enough to Duluth so you could wander around there, or try stillwater and take a spring cruise down the st. croix and check out the dinner cruise aboard the minnesota zephyr ,a 3 hour 5 course meal aboard a train that takes you on a dinner cruise along the river bluffs.

To add in about Lansboro and Winona, up the river their are many places you can hike up to the top of the bluffs (specifically sugar loaf in Winona). also I'd try to go to harmony and check out their caves (make sure they're open). or another thing would be checking out dulth (they have a mansion you can walk through and also an old retired ship you can take a tour of).

Also if you want to go to the cities go to Minnehaha Park and see the falls, you could also try to catch a twins game or a show as well.

I agree with the first poster about Lanesboro.....
but travel down through Red Wing and maybe check out Winona, all along the river.....it is beautiful country.....
and I think Duluth is great too. Lots of great walking. They turned Leif Erickson park into a beautiful flower garden....and it is right by the walkway along Lake Superior.
