If your looking for a Japanese sound for your slide show, check the Kill Bill Vol. 1 soundtrack. The Japanese girl band (The 6-7-8-9's) are on it.

Depending on where you went besides Japan, try One Night in Bangkok, but if you just stayed in Japan, then look to some Japanese Classical Geisha style music- good for lots of scenery and then more modern music for city and people, Translations will be needed.

"Sukiyaki" Kyu Sakamoto had the version sang in Japanese and A Taste Of Honey sang it in English.
Also for some comic relief, there's "The Japanese Sandman" an old doo wop song by the Cellos.
