In the United States, fire pumps are tested regularly in accordance with the intervals and procedures outlines in NFPA 25, the standard for testing and inspection of water based fire protection systems.

New systems are installed and tested to the guidelines of NFPA 20.

(What does this have to do with "Games and Gear?")

Fire pump systems are tested usually either anualy or semi, they are tested by the local fire department fire inspector typically by hooking a small section of hose up to it, filling it to a certain PSI of water and checking for leaks.
