When Yahoo introduced Answers, I have to wonder if the team had any concept of the Pandora's Box of horrors it was opening, as regards the level of insults, slurs, garbage, spam and trolling.
They could probably eliminate a large percentage of it by just dropping the Politics and Religion categories. The slur-to-intelligent discussion ration in those categories is probably 10 to 1.
Also, I wonder if they had any concept of the sheer VOLUME of garbage that would be generated.
As you see, they expect the participants to do the housekeeping and policing with their "Community Guidelines," and you can see how well that works.
No, Answers is woefully under-moderated and overrun with malicious activity.
Perhaps if they had a cover charge, things would change...

I would update avatar with some new expressions and haircuts.
I would change the color of the backgrounds of the answer.
I would increase the points of a best answer to 20!

Good answer SlickG! (Thumb up!) I'd also bring in a voting violations rule. If someone marks you for violation there's 24 hours for people to agree/disagree. That should stop some people getting violations for no reason.

I wouldn't put a limit on how many questions one can answer in a day. Sometimes, trying to give helpful input to people through is forum is all I have to look forward to and to be shut off from it can be rough. Helping others is my therapy sometimes.

I think that there are people who like to talk about "Adult" things and they should have their own 18 & over section.
I would not be into it, but it would make other people happy and keep the general forum "cleaner".
