Some of the 'experts' have said to leave it alone, but others have said it should be investigated, a similiar size one was seen on my right breast on the IRM. It's painful enough to wake me up at night. I also have nodules at the moment on my thyroid which have to be removed.

If this is a palpable lump (one that YOU can feel) try having a doctor aspirate it (insert a fine needle to see if any fluid can be drawn back); this will tell you if it's a simple fluid-filled cyst & no further need to worry.
Otherwise, you may want to think about biopsy...you have to put into consideration, your sex, your age, medications you take, family history, and also you mention thyroid nodules...although those, in particular, could be totally unrelated. But, at the very least, you'd have peace of mind knowing the nodule was benign rather than constantly wondering "is it growing, or getting bigger?"
They can do a wire needle localization to help identify the nodule to assist in locating it during the biopsy procedure too. This is usually done 1-2 hours prior to the surgery, down in the x-ray department.

The good news is cancerous lumps are rarely painful. However if it's bothering you and it's uncomfortable then you probably need to get it sorted out, despite what the doctors say. Why should you suffer pain if you don't have to.
