Well, each instance of intimacy, letting our defenses down is making ourselves vulnerable. Usually when we are tired our defenses haven't energy and we are vulnerable and best be in a safe place with trusted people.

A person who's psyche lays almost completely exposed to the negatives elements of human interaction and to his/her own inner demons without the benefit of his/her usual psychological armor we all protect ourselves with.
