I work for a high-end clothing retailer, we are hosting a customer evening this week and I need to put together some goody bags to give away free to our customers.I need to fill them with relevant 'cool' items that do not clash with what I sell (Clothes).Any ideas of who I could contact, companies etc that would be willing to supply me with items at low cost/no cost, really quickly. The event is this Thursday?

You should contact your vendors, most of the time they will be happy to supply some goodies, like sample sizes of colognes.

Your vendors will most likely supply these items because it's like free advertising for them.

It's called "sponsorship" so they will get exposure.

If not, you can supply small items you are getting rid of, discounted, or damaged that you can't tell, like sunglasses or ties. Anything in your store you can use that you won't use?

How about company related stuff? Our bank used to give away leather notepads with the bank logo on it and a silver pen.

I'm sure you have stuff around the store or overstock that you can use.

But your best bet is to call the vendors your company already deals with.

If you are high- end then other companies should be happy for the publicity from being in your goody bag. It's also a good idea not to give such big items as iPods as they will probably be sold on through ebay.

Notepads - bulk out the bags - useful and cheap.
would need to put in a pen too

Novelty items / gadgets would be good.
pen thats a torch,
Puzzle, etc

Hard to give good cool things with low budget.
So Instead -
I would suggest contacting a firm - that does gadgets etc (at mid price range) and see if they would be willing to supply several free to you in return for publicity at your event. - as you mentioned that its a high-end retailer, so the publicity should be good for them. Never underestimate the power of free publicity!!!

your best bet is to contact a perfume/cologne place and get them to give you lots of free samples. after that some nice planners or notebooks would be a nice touch. (those would be harder to get free, but you can always try!) then possibly a nice ink pen, i bet you could get a lot of those for free or not much $$!
good luck and i hope i helped!
