Honestly, I used to be effect severly when I was discriminated against and I felt alomst wounded by another persons words and actions against me. However now I just let it go on by and I refuse to let it effect me in any way shape or form and the one thing that helped me achieve this kind of uplifting philosophy is the words of Oscar Wilde - 'do not critisize what you cant understand'.

I was discriminated against one time because of my race. I worked in a housing project as an employee at a neighborhood center. When I was grabbed by the neck, it was made known that I wasn't accepted because of my race. I didn't do anything because I knew a majority of the citizens in the neighborhood. We were generally accepted by one another. In time, this man and I became best friends because I chose not to pursue anything but being kind in return. It was difficult, but I played their games--and won often, & I also made it known my respect for them and their differences in culture. By that, I earned their friendship. Not every dispute has to be handled by threats of violence. Usually face-to-face encounters can be handled peacefully. But at the last resort if you feel physically threatened or unduly harrassed let the authorities handle it. I was fortunate to let time work for me.
