Yeah, that was a dumb ending, I mean she's been bouncing back and forth in time along that particular week so you think they could have a better ending.
I hate to say it but I felt like Sandra Bullock's character was given a chance to save her husband's life and blew it. She could have saved her daughter's face, too, if she'd put the stickers up on Sunday! It's not like she didn't have time while her husband was with the girls at the park.
But, she did find her faith again. By making some changes, yes, she saved his soul, too, by making him realize what's important and, of course, she got pregnant on Sunday, the night before he got killed on Wednesday.
That baby is very special because without the timeshifts, Sandra's character wouldn't have gotten pregnant. Remember how she told her friend Annie that her husband and her were basically "room-mates" and her room-mate was a liar or cheat? But her jumps did help her come to an important realization and she conceived that baby.
So, on the day he died, because she'd changed things she did, he bought extra insurance so she could buy the house on the lake and he told the sl*t that he wasn't going to go meet her at the hotel.

I put this quesstion a couple of days ago as it puzzled me, when she woke up, yet again, i wasing for him to be alive again, one answer I got was that she had saved his sou las he was not going to have the affair, I think she could have saved him, she should have realised where they were sooner and got him out of the car before the truck came up

i watched it to and the ending was bad ,i mean come on she tried to help but was unable to ok and then shes pregnant at the end ,the film had good story but rubbish script ,sandra bullock was terrible ,i mean she walked around saying nothing to nobody and wasn't even able to tell her husband what was going on .
probably ment its ok to lose one u love as life will carry on or some other stupid meaning like that.

at the end of the movie i turned to my boyfriend and said ' so is he dead' was such a bad ending! it had such great potential to be a great movie but never got there? so he dies and she was the cause of it but unintentionally and ended up getting pregnant because of it? i dunno now I'm confused again!! lol
