Try the Compendium of Common Knowledge 1558-1603, which is the period of Queen Elizabeth (most of Shakespeare's lifetime — the late 16th century, NOT the 1600s). You can find it at http://elizabethan.org/compendium/index.html . It should provide the detail you want on everyday life (see, for example, the "Household Management" section).
