I agree that a person , no matter what his affiliation, should look at issues rather than party and make up one's own mind. I suspect many do not.

They are ideologues with no original thoughts! There major concern is their wallet and government spending when Democrats are in office.
It doesn't bother them that Bush has run up 3 1/2 TRILLION in additional debt in 6 years!! And the economy isn't doing that well. Housing starts are at a 39 year low!
I don't follow any party, but I almost always vote Democrat. I have voted Republican, but not for national office! I think people are elected to do the will of their constituents, not the party leadership!

that's an unclear question! My party holds the tenets in which I believe and I am loyal to my party but I also have independent thinking, of course. If one follows their party blindly, I would not refer to them as a nitwit!

I believe that everyone should be following the election information on each candidate and make an educated decision on who to vote for. Not just because they are Democrat or Republican. I am not thrilled with the choices that we have so far. I hope that at least one will stand out as a good candidate as we get closer to the final election.

Our two party system is broken, neither party represents the people. Register Independent, think independently. Vote the person not the party.

If you are a member of a Party and expect the Party to support you, come election time, then you have an obligation to toe the Party Line. If you want to think independently, quit the Party.

I think it does. Even though I support many of the goals of my party, i don;t support them all and always questions a line of action as to how beneficial it is for the country than the party

They are called "party loyalists". A bunch of people who either don't take the time to learn about each candidate or hear all sides of an argument, believe that their party knows what's best. It's a lot easier at the polls to flip one switch, then it is to flip 10 or more.

Yes. Like the previous people have said, you need to look at specific issues, not just vote party line.

No, it could be that they believe in everything the party stands for & backs, therefore they're loyal. It could also mean they're just a little bit lazy & trust their party to do the right thing for them.
