There is MSG in some fast food, but also in many prepared foods like soups, it's a flavour enhancer or multiplier made from a type of bean. People can also buy it to use in cooking. Some people have allergies. Chinese restaurants used to use it quite a bit but not as much in recent years. Some advertise that they do not use it. You'd have to consult nutrition guides put out by restaurants to see who uses it and in what products.

MSG is mostly used in Chinese food to make the food look more appetizing, It has a glaze that keeps the true colors of the vegetables. However, it's loaded with sodium, the food tastes just as good without it. I always order it without the MSG, as long as it tastes good, I don't care if the colors are vibrant.

There is MSG in a lot of food that you eat. Just don't put any on your food.

It's highly found in MOST chineese food. I haven't heard that it causes poor memory, but it can trigger migraine headaches in people with the problem.

That's the stuff (probably one of the main things) that make the food taste so good at Fast Food Places. They even use it at KFC.
