This has happened within hospital settings amongst staff. There have been complaints made by nurses and other personnel that doctors have been verbally intimidating. On the other hand there are many more who are very respectful.
As far as doctors and physicians they are no different than anyone in a position of authority who may verbally insult others. It happens in any profession or occupation. The problem lays in the abused who do not take action and speak up for fear of causing animosity or losing their job, so they tolerate the abuse and either learn to live with it or leave. Ongoing verbal abuse is a form of bullying which is rampant and unlike other forms of abuse is harder to prove.

Most doctors out there may answer you NO. The Hippocratic Oath is a sacred vow of every physician who wish to enter into the practice of medicine and is thought in most medical schools in their first year. Best doctors who are successful in their career find this helpful not only in their practice but also in dealing with other people as well. Doctors are trained to value the DIGNITY of life, BROTHERHOOD to fellow physicians, DEDICATION to the profession and ACKNOWLEDGEMENT to THE SUPREME BEING as the Ultimate Healer, and Author of Life.
