Well not a spouse but an ex gf. We were together for 2 years and then I found out she cheated on me with one of her friends.

Its hard to hear it at first and is hard to deal with. When you truly care about someone you start by thinking why and if you did anything or didn't do something.

My advice would be to just take some time. I have been single for 4 months now and while I miss being in a relationship with someone, I don't want to rush into one and have the same thing happen.

I wish you the best of luck getting through this hard time

Yes,
I am in a divorce process because I discovered by looking that my husband was in love with another woman. I confronted him, and he said he would regret it the rest of his life if he gave her up. He said he wanted a divorce, gave me the house, and left the kids and me without a backwards glance. He says it is a positive change for him, and he doesn't regret it. I am left with all the baggage. I am grieving the loss of the marriage, and even though he cheated and lied, I miss him. This makes me feel there is something wrong with me, yet we did have good times together. I am now trying to shape up and feel better about myself, because my self confidence is very low now. I discovered all of this in November.
I am sorry you are going through this too. Hang on to your sense of self and don't let this person devalue you if you can help it. By getting out as fast as I could, I have helped myself a lot.

My husband and I went through this and we have survived. Our marriage is actually better than it ever was, and we did have to set up some ground rules so that we did survive. It was very hard for the first year, but if you are both committed then you will make it. Forgiveness is the key to making it. You must realize that people make mistakes and no one is ever going to be perfect. We have helped other couples through this tragic issue, and they are all doing well now.

Emailing each other will not make it any better for either of us. Talking it to death may help but would be much healthier with a trusted local friend.

It would be very foolish to share any part of your personal life with a virtual stranger at this time especially. There are predators out there who are laying in wait for someone in your position they will manipulate you with their emotional support and eventually ask to meet you. For goodness sake think things threw and protect yourself from a possible very dangerous outcome.

Not my spouse but I heard several stories on how the spouse was tempted by others whenever the husband or wife was on overseas assignment.

Sometimes these situations happened in the neighborhood or in the offices.

there is a really great support group/message board on ivillage.com. It's in the love section and it's called Betrayed spouses support. There are really great women and men there that have gone through this.

my ex-husband did. and as they say what goes around comes around (Karma). and he got his a few years after he did it to me. It hurt like hell but in the long run I am better off. We didn't even make it to our 2nd anniversary. And I have been with my mate now for 24 years. LIfe is too short to put up with all the bull****. Good luck to you.
