I came accross this idea in a Stephen Fry monologue and am interested to know what the experts think.

I wake up with my comrades the bats.As soon as they start flying out of the cave I live in I get up and start looking for a fresh meal of blood.Solar eclipses do not get them going is my experience and as certified bloodsucker I stay in my fermented grave until the sun is really down.

LOL I was in Cornwall for the total solar eclipse and although the birds went quiet none of the nearby bats emerged.

Think thats the most sensible answer I can give!
