If homosexual couples really need to feel that they are married in the eyes of god, why not just elect a messiah & start up a religion that accepts gay marriage? It would be about as real as any other religion is.

What use would it be to start their own religion to get married when the laws of the country and society still won't recognize their marriage?
The fight for the right to get married is more about gaining equal rights and acceptance in society than just being able to say "I'm married" without it having any further meaning.

They may like the religion that they are apart of. Doing so would exclude them and their marriages still wouldnt be accepted and looked at as legit in the eyes of a lot Americans.

Who said we wanted to be married in the eyes of God?? Any God. Especially one that is portrayed as hateful.
