The rabbit I look after during the day was shivering in his hutch when I went to get him this morning. It wasn't a constant shiver, just an occasional one. He wasn't in his bed (a pile of hay) and it wasn't very cold (5 degrees Celcius with no wind) and he often chooses to sit out in colder temperatures than that on my decking when he could come inside in the warmth. (He's very relaxed in our house when he does choose to come in).

So, was he cold? He's been moulting a lot lately. Or was he frightened? He wasn't acting frightened. Could he be a bit under the weather and cold even though he wasn't in his bed and doesn't normally seem to feel the cold? I'm not sure whether to ask his owner to give him more hay, or whether to keep him in my house for a few nights if he's not feeling too well. He's 6 years old.

(I've been keeping him in overnight when it's been frosty.)

Many small animals shiver simply because they have a high metabolism. The rabit may be shivering because it is sick though.

A simple rabbit expression of happiness is the "shudder." The rabbit will lift its front legs up a bit, and shiver the skin of its chest and back by twisting rapidly. Sometimes its head and ears will twist a little too. A rabbit shudders to tell you that it is happy, hopefully with you and in general. You can think of it as a glad pat on the back for a job well done.

He's doing this because he is MUCH happier when you bring him inside. If you keep him inside all the time, you will have a very very happy bunny and he will show you his gratitude with lots of amusing bunny antics--things you don't get to see when your rabbit is kept outside and not so happy. :o)

easily cat bites are very dirty, even for human beings. He could are growing ill from some bacteria interior the saliva. Rabbit can definately die of fright, yet except he became scared and freaking out once you positioned him interior the container, that seems unlikely. except he became scared in the course of the nighttime. He may have only had an underlying ailment to commence with and rigidity extra it out. **playstation : do not issue about the lettuce.. it does no longer have killed him.
