i think its some cross stich thing... what doe it mean or how is it done.. citing sources whould be a big help.

thread for cross stitching is sold in skeins. what they are saying is to complete the project you need to buy more than one, you can look it up on the instruction chart of any crosstich chart or try DMC they manufacture threads

Your granny or mother might have done this (it's fun for anyone except the tiny detail work isn't so good for kids until they get more control of those fingers). Skeins are bundles of 6 strands of embroidery "thread" or floss. It's usually shiny and they (the strands) are in fact wrapped threads.

When you go to your craft store, sewing shop, or other purveyor of sundries, you can buy as many skeins as a project calls for.

Well it means that you may need more than one and floss thread means that it has a waxy coating on it. You are right about the cross stitching just google cross stitch and I am sure you will get a lot of sources for the manner in which you need them.
