A 'league' is seven miles. A league is a measure of distance and not depth. When Jules Verne wrote: 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea, he was talking about how far the Nautilus sailed under the ocean, not how deep it went.

So to answer your question: "How far is 10000 leagues under the sea?" It is 70000 miles.

Well, a league is 3 miles, so 10000 leagues would make a heck of a basketball playoff. . .

Ok, 30,000 miles. . .

From Wikipedia:

A league is a unit of length, used to express distance, long common in Europe and Latin America, although no longer an official unit in any nation. The league expresses the distance a person, or a horse, can walk in 1 hour of time (usually about 3 miles or 5 kilometres).

In English units over the past couple of centuries or so, the league was most often considered to be 3 nautical miles, or about 5.56 km (nautical miles varied slightly at different times and places).

A league is a unit of measure that describes how far a person or horse can walk in 1 day, or about 3 miles. So, 10,000 leagues would be about 30,000 miles. But if you were refering to the book, 20,000 leagues = 60,000 miles.

A league is about 4 kilometers, so 10,000 leagues is about 40,000 kilometers - or 25,000 miles, if you prefer.

BTW, in Jules Verne's book "20,000 leagues under the sea", the 20,000 leagues refers to the horizontal distance that the submarine traveled, not the depth it reached. The greatest depth the book refers to is 4 leagues. 20k leagues would be through the middle of the earth, out the other side, and out in space somewhere beyond that.

It is 10,000 leagues - that's how far!
Which is twice as far as 5,000 leagues!

Maybe you would like to specify which unit you would like the conversion to be in - metres? feet? Km? miles? fathoms?

I don't know, but the Jules Verne book is about 20000 leagues, just in case you confused it.
