I agree with previous answers. However in the meantime, ice it. I use Ziplock freezer bags (gallon size) with a little water and ice cubes. Put that on your knee for 20 minutes or longer several times a day. Also elevate the knee. This means lying flat on your back with the knee on several pillow....with the ice on it. If you can take over the counter medications like naproxen sodium (Aleve), motrin or ibuprofen these will up reduce the inflammation and pain till you can be treated. If your knee locks and won't bend, or gives way not bearing your weight, head immediately to ER. If this is not the case, I would still recommend calling an orthopedic surgeon for a consultation. I'm a nurse that deals with orthopedic patients on a daily basis and I've had 4 knee surgeries with the last one being total knee replacement. That has finally fixed the problem. Hopefully (and probably) your situation won't require that. Good luck.

well ,you have to see a doctor, but as I'm a doctor myself i will tell you the qqs the doctor will need to know .first .does the swelling start immediately after the fall or after more that 24 hours ??? second,is this the first time this happen to you ?? your condition is like to be (( locked knee )) and this has many causes ,it a occur in young age soccer players ,after fall it swell and Lock then after couple of days the swelling disappeared gradually but restoring full knee movements will take longer time ...a week for example, simple pain killer like paracetamol is good for you until seeing doctor ,and you have to see a doctor to find out the cause by some investigations.

Go to the doctor. Hobbling around on a damaged knee will take more time and resources (pain affects your day!) than getting yourself to the hospital for an appointment. Plus, you may do more damage, and have to go to the hospital anyway.

It is called strain or sprain. You must go to hospital because without seeing we cant tell the exact condition. They usually prefer x-ray.If it is strain or sprain it will come down within one week if it is fracture it may take two months to heel .For the timebeing you can apply ICE to that area dont apply directly ice should be wrapped with towel or cloth.
If you want to take homoeopathy i can suggest
Take Arnica 30 one dose it is availabe in homoeopathic medical stores.ask them to give Arnica 30 one dram pills
from that you take 10 pills as one dose.after 4 hours you observe the intensity if little bit reduced then take one more dose.you can take it till it reduces.if reduced stop taking medicine. After taking first dose if no change occurs then it is better to show to an orthopedic

bypass to the physician and get an x-ray. give up enjoying soccer till you get this regarded at. you do no longer desire to completely injure your knee. do no longer take a risk and by no ability walk returned. soccer isn't worth it.
