Join some kind of sports group or another activity that you like. Do some volunteer work. Start an evening class (or part-time day class) They're a start, from there you will make more friends and not be so lonely.....

When I am anxious about something and I need to get it out of my mind, for a short period of time, I go to a movie. In the movie my mind gets finally out of anything and gets directed to the movie, and time passes fast, so by the time I am out of the theater my anxiety was gone and I am much more relaxed.
