Lots of innocent young men were slaughtered like cattle - thats what happened. why? Because governments don't give a crap about their people, they were and still are, willing to use their people as cannon fodder for their own gain.

As nationalism raised through out all Europe, Europe became divided into alliances. and is in our days (Iraq and Afghan) the fear from economical, Territorial and military power and control caused the alliances to seek war.. the killing of the prince was just a long waited reason to start the fun :)
