I have one of those friends that, if things are going horribly, calls me all the time whining for sympathy. But now that things are going well, I never hear from her.

First, friends are a support system for each other. Does she only call when she needs your support when things are not going good? Does she return the favor when you are in need? As for you feeling as if you have been dumped for a new man in her life, as her friend, be happy for her, and know that the whiny sympathy she solicits during the bad times, will probably diminish. Finally, broaden your circle of friends...sometimes we invest too much of ourselves in too few friendships and then when those persons distance for any reason, we have a void. Fill the void with new activities, meet new friends, go new places, see new things and you will not have time to ponder what to do with this friend. Let her go. Wish the best for her.

Move on!! Be a good friend and listen when she needs you to but don't give up your life for her. A true friend is a blessing and some people go through life never having that 1 true friend they can always count on.

Sounds like she is just a "fair-weather" friend ...dump her for a new friend.....next time she calls whining tell her you dont like what she does and dont need her when its convienient for her only, then/or say well thats very interesting but I need my rest, tomorrow I have plans with the girls...bye.

Make yourself totally unavailable to her. She'll soon get the picture. You do not need a so called friend in life who treats you that way. Friends are forever, Men come and go.
