You can Leave your PC for as long as you want ...but its advisable if idle you can set your monitor to go off ..
i does not hurt to put your monitor off when stepping out it will save your monitor ..as per my case i have lost two monitors to power-surges hence its very advisable to put off your monitor when not in use ..
Dont worry much on the case of a PC coz the power supply is good in protecting it from any power fluctuations although its still advisable to use a power-surge protector even if you are using a UPS
Bottom line ...set your monitor so go off after 15 Min's if idle
...set your screen saver to 5 minutes
...put it off if you are able to.
...the PC itself can stay on for as long as a month without a problem as long as its well aerated (powerful fans)
when going for a 15 min stroll or break it doent hurt to switch off the monitor esp if its CRT ...

I use the power options to shut down discs and monitor after 20 minutes and standby after 30 min. I have left them on for days but, it gets warm in this room with 2 computers on 24/7.

Set your monitor to go to 'sleep' if idle for 20 minutes. I leave my computer on for 3 or 4 weeks at a time. The screensave kicks in at 5 minutes and the monitor blanks out at 20.

I leave mine on weeks at a time but have the monitor set to turn off after several min. of inactivity.
Let me add that turning your computer off even 1 time a day reduces its components overall life.

many of the older computers have been designed in a manner that did reason issues once you shut it on and off quite a few circumstances an afternoon. immediately's computers are designed to be extra "eco-friendly" by using fact they discovered that they consume a extra physically powerful area of electric energy than human beings comprehend whilst left working in "sleep" mode. With my computers, I close them off whilst i'm no longer employing them to maintain power and to guard from overheating. Plus, in case you have instant, and don't disconnect from the internet, your laptop can proceed to load junk as end results of the undercover agent ware that your undercover agent ware blockers miss. If I go away my pc on, in spite of the browser residing house windows closed, and placing idle for particularly a quantity hours, it fairly is impossible to tolerate by using fact each little thing is slowed down and not something works actual. My brother, who's a working laptop or laptop tech informed me to bypass forward and close computers down whilst no longer in use. He reported they was once extra ideal if being left on, yet in recent times, that is pointless and wasteful. countless human beings nonetheless do it by using fact they are too lazy or impatient to bypass in the direction of the initiate technique, so they use the previous "you will positioned on stuff out" excuse. and a few nonetheless have self belief so. yet, maximum laptop techs on television propose shutting them down in recent times besides.
