Yoga can be practised in many forms. The type I have had most benefit from is one that does a lot of stretching and breathing.
The stretching should be strong but gentle. Don't listen to people who say there is no gain without pain, as the body should not be stretched into pain. Just go as far as you can and repeat a few times, then gradually you will be able to go further. This method will keep the muscles flexible, whereas if you strain and go into pain the muscles will be tight and brittle.
Breathing, of course, is going on automatically to keep us alive. In Yoga breathing the process is refined in several ways to give maximum benefit to our bodies.
Have a go and join a Yoga class and you'll find out for yourself.

I like to do yoga in the mornings when I have time. Its a good way to start the day. I feel centered, calm, happy. Nothing can bring me down. ^_^

I find myself calmer, with the ability to let things roll off me. In the past, I felt a lot more frustration and anger in my every day life. Also, I find I need less sleep to be fully rested.
