"I Can't Stop Loving You" was an international smash for legendary musician Ray Charles in 1962. Released from Charles' groundbreaking Modern Sounds in Country and Western Music album, the song (a cover version) reached number one on the Billboard Hot 100, as well as the U.S. R&B and Adult Contemporary charts. The song appeared on the soundtrack of the movie Metropolis where it was used instead of sound effects in the film's final scene.

Martina McBride performed the song in Charles's style at a Grand Ole Opry tribute to him that originally aired on Great American Country TV on June 3, 2006.
Widespread Panic, the famed band from Athens, Georgia, rang in the year 2007 by covering the song at their annual New Year's Celebration in Atlanta.

Sammy Hagar when he was with Van Halen sang a song called Can't Stop Lovin You. It's a good song and it came out in the early ninties.

Could it have been Connie Francis or Freddie Fender? I found the song on limewire and found several different versions but these ones seemed more likely what you were looking for.
