It's like a virus, or a plague or something. I can't turn around without hearing someone talk a big pile of complete bollocks. People are obsessed with it. Why is this happening to me?

There are lots of reasons why people talk about nonsense, especially on the internet. It might be due to:
1) starving for attention
2) being insecure with seeing people of opposing beliefs congrate together in conversation
3) just blindly regurgitating things they've heard
4) boredom
5) a compulsion to simply post anything (and I'm sure you know what that guy in your avatar said about indulgence vs. compulsion)

Um, what is "bollocks"? I would need to understand that in order to understand the totallity of a complete one, as for why it's happening to you, just showing up here is excuse enough to some people, things like that happen to all of us somewhere along the line, or at least the ones with brain cells. All you gotta do is show up here, but then if you also want to enjoy the good stuff, all you gotta do is show up here :)
Edit: Ok, looked it up, you gave me my word for the day, as for the rest of it, I'll stick with that :)

They do don't they? Conversations on buses etc that you can't help overhearing. They seem to speak louder everywhere as if they want everyone to hear. You never overhear anyone talking sense. Talking philosophical. talking anything of any interest to anyone but each other.
I tend to hear a lot of the latest soaps. The **** lives they have. the latest gadget on the market to save time in the kitchen. Is that the type of thing you mean hun?
The good stuff i have yet to eavesdrop on.

Why is it happening to you? I'd suggest it's always been going on. Perhaps you've just become aware of it?

However there is an easy solution. Stick your fingers in your ears and repeat after me "Nah nah na nah na Can't hear you!" Notice the improvement?

In large groups people are stupid. It is up to the intelligent few to tell them what to do.
