I would say £10.00 is a fair price, it is hard manual work.

It can vary a lot as some retired people work to supplement the pension. Not as professional as firms that specialise but a lot cheaper. However you need to find someone you know and trust or just pay top dollar. Contact various companies in your area or the local paper to get an idea of the going rate. Also important that they have insurance for any injury that can happen. Probably in the end you just have to do it yourself and plan a garden that is easy to maintain....

If you are looking for a general gardner that it seems that £8-£10 is a fair price to pay. however if you are after something a bit more professional, say a landscaper then the price will probably be on a "per job" basis. http://www.whatprice.co.uk/gardening.html has some good examples of typical gardener prices
