I'm now undergoing a project regarding the relationship between civil society and the state, while Singapore is one of the countries that i would like to mention. Therefore, I'm looking for some related information. Fact, statistics or figures (e.g. the most common kinds of civil society there and number of those organizations) are welcome. Thanks a lot!!!

singapore is hardcore and barbaric...i can't imagine a government canning its people for chewing a gum, it doesn't make a sense...and here's quirky, you'll be thrown into prison if you perform a felatio if not followed by vaginal intercourse. how many people does your country have? 4 million? i believe considerable percentage of that are executed yearly.

There are a few hundred civil societies registered in Singapore that are encompass all aspects of civic life in Singapore, eg cultural, religious, arts, music etc. These societies are registered with the registry of societies. They are free to run their societies free from government interference for as long as they operates within the law. It will be impossible to list all of them here.

The largest civic society is the People's Association, which runs more than a hundred community centres/club in the island state. The centre provides recreational and sports facilities and organises civic activities eg tours, cooking classes, karaoke etc for residents.

There is also the zoned Resident Committees (RCs) which organises regular activities for their residents (within a zone) on a regular basis. Their activities help to build trust and cohesion among residents.

The following websites will be useful. Hope that the info will suffice for your project.
