Don't you just hate electric windows? I like the old kind that just roll up and down. Sometimes if you wait awhile you can try again and it will go up a little each time. Unfortunately, they are pretty expensive to fix.

This of course is the window that usually fails as it is used most often. You have to take the door lining off. Prize off with a screwdriver after removing door handle, arm rest etc - usually held on with cross thresd screws and somewhat hidden. You will see a motor and a scissor action mechanism with a little motor. Probably the motor is burnt out, but it could be that there's a bad connection. Unlug and re-plug in any connections you see. Look for broken wires. Swap over the motor from the passenger door - the one you say works. if this doesn't work in the driver's door, you know the problem is in the wiring. They are usually held in by three 10mm nuts - a small 1/4 inch socket set is best to remove these. Depending how comfortable you are with this, live with the passenger door not working. Get a motor from a breakers' yard, or buy from a Ford agent. I don't know the current price of a new window motor, but you can nearly always get them cheaper from a motor factors - look in yellow pages or internet for a local one. I use Partco or Brown Brothers, but there are loads for Fords. BTW you can sometimes free things off by a liberal dose of WD40 or similar.

Sounds like the motor in that window is bad. Ours did that too. We had to have it replaced.

my landcruiser one didnt work. i pulled it apart and found the little carbon brushes inside were worn away. luck the wire was long enough to un hook it and let a little bit more out. this let the brushes touch and saved over $400.00.
