It may be a JAVA problem. Go to Control Panel | Java and the JAVA properties box should pop up. There is an update tab. Try updating JAVA Runtime. You can check the Automatically check for updates to keep it up to date. If you can't see the Java icon in Control Panel, use Classic View. You can try this also:
Open IE, go to Tools | Internet Options | Security and adjust the level to medium-high, if it isn't already.
