I believe the Young Man referred to "Piece Disgregation".
May be he thought to use a Titanium-Toy to fight against His "Monster's Enemies", as it happens in the fantasy of Boy's Youth.
DON'T WORRY , YOU WILL BE THE GREATEST KNIGHT.
He must avoid the "Fire-Breath" of Monsters as Dragons, he may risk the melting of His "All-Mighty" Titanium-Sword.
He cannot follow the Dragons entering in the Volcanoes's Rooms, e.g. the Methane's Flames or other Gas's Ball of Fire may warm His "Brighting" Titanium-Shell.
He must avoid the "Acidic Breath" of Monsters as Giant Snakes, he may risk the Surface Corrosion of His "Brighting" Titanium-Shell.
On the other hand, you remember that Aqueos Solutions of STRONG ACID as HydroChloric Acid may corrode Titanium Surfaces, nonetheless in the SLOW FASHIONs.
The Strongest Medium I experimented is an Hot Aqueous Solution of Hydrofluoric Acid/ Niric Acid : on the hot conditions, Titanium undergoes VERY FASTLY CORROSION!!!
I hope this helps you.

You can melt it, at very high temperature. You can react it with acids and oxidising agents too.
