Hiyas,

I'm working on an essay and am wondering peoples general opinion on whether they like reality programming or not. Although i know this is a very difficult question as there are many different types of reality programming but in general do you like it? You're opinions mean a lot to me.

Thanks

I'm fed up with it. There's too much of it.
Make overs, gardening, Big Brother, The Simple Life, Queer Eye etc.
It never seems to end, and the programmes just get worse and worse.

yes and no.

I really enjoy reality competitions that require intense stamina and strategy (e.g. survivor) and/or practical skills (top chef), as well as shows that challenge stereotypes, broaden horizons (amazing race), and promote critical thinking and open mindedness (30 days). I also enjoy a show like miami ink for the art and the candid personal stories, though I don't watch as frequently.

I would be happy if mindless reality shows that thrive on drama, stupidity, gimmicks, overexposure such as american idol, top model, the bachelor(ette), beauty and the geek, the simple life, the surreal life, the real housewives of the o.c., etc. never aired again. That being said, I also have to confess a guilty pleasure that is 'the hills'. Nobody's perfect.

Well I never thought that I would but I have found myself watching Hogan Knows Best, The Simple Life, Surreal Life, I Love New York, Gene Simmons Family Jewels, and the Osbournes when they were on so I guess that means I do. I don't get into American Idol though or those gross shows where they eat worms and brains though.

Man, not anymore. I loved Junkyard Wars, but it's been off the air for a long time.

Right now I'm loving The Office-- which is a faux reality show.

I say use professional writers to create dialog.

I like the certain ones like some of the people above, The First 48,Man vs Wild, Intervention-- but cannot watch those MTV shows with those spoiled kids or a boy dating an older woman to go out with her daughter-such stupidity!

I think american idol is the worst show I can think of at the moment, although as I wonder through my memory of awful tv listings I may think of another!
Seeing people eat bugs and other really stomach churning things is not something that turns me on after dinner, either!
I think reality is hopefully, a passing phase, but you never know.

No, I don't enjoy reality shows. It seems to show the bad side of people.

Me personally I hate most of the reality shows. To much bitchy and complaining.

Only if it's serious documentaries. I love Animal Cops, crime shows and historic things.
